What to expect
The log
1

The log

Every log is sourced by us, from Western Slope forests and from trees that came down in town.

Sawn on our Wood-Mizer to the size your project actually calls for, in true dimension.
The kiln

The kiln

Air dried first, then finished in our own kiln when the job calls for it.

Your build

Porches, ceilings, mantels and tables, built from wood that grew just down the road.
Builders & contractors

Send us the takeoff and we'll cut the package.

One mill down the road can cut the whole package to your plans, so there's no reason to haul timbers in from three states away. Posts, beams, rafters, T&G and siding come in local Doug fir, spruce and pine, with hardwood on hand for the mantels and bar tops. Odd sizes are a big part of what we do.

  • Beams up to 32' long, cuts up to 35" wide
  • Quote back in about 1 business day
  • Kiln-dried local hardwood for the finish work: walnut, ash, elm, sycamore
  • A straight answer on lead time. It moves with the backlog, so we'll give you today's number.

Homeowners

Your project, built with wood from down the road.

Pergolas, mantels, slab tables, accent walls, even a whole porch. Bring a plan, a sketch or just the idea, and we'll cut what it takes to build it.

  • Pergola packages, cut to size and ready to put up
  • Kiln-dried slabs: walnut, ash, elm and whatever else came down in town
  • Mantels in about any size
  • Come pick your piece at the yard

Our story

I built my house out of this stuff.

I've worked in construction since I was a kid. In 2002 my family built a house in Gunnison County out of rough-sawn lumber. I've been building in Gunnison, Hinsdale and Montrose counties ever since. Then I bought a small sawmill and fell in love with making lumber.

In 2019 we did it again and built our own house out of local wood. That's logs to living. It started in the backyard, and after about a year and a half of sawdust in the yard, we moved out to the highway in Olathe. Faith, family and a lot of sawdust.

Quick answers

The questions we hear most.

All 48 answers

Is 2" actually 2"?

Yes. Everything we cut is true dimension, so 2 inches measures a full 2 inches.

How long does an order take?

Normal is about two weeks for green lumber, and kiln dried adds kiln time. It moves with the backlog, so ask and we'll give you today's number.

Will you mill my logs?

Yes. Drop them off or line up a hauler. Logs need to be at least 8 feet long.

Do you deliver?

We don't deliver, but we'll put you in touch with a hauler.
