Figured black walnut slab
Hardwoods & live edge slabs

These were all
trees in town.

A storm brings one down, or a driveway needs the room, and most of them end up in the chipper. The good ones come to us instead, where they're slabbed thick, air dried slowly and finished in our kiln. No two are alike, which is the best reason to come see them in person.

From somebody's yard
to your kitchen.

When a big tree comes down in town, it usually ends up in a chipper or a landfill. Here's what happens when it ends up with us instead.

Cottonwood marked for cutting
1

The tree

Storm damage, a new driveway, a dying elm. Arborists and homeowners call us before the chipper arrives.

2

The mill

We slab it thick on the mill, live edge and all, and read the grain as we go.

3

The kiln

Stickered, air dried slowly under cover, then finished in our kiln. A slab that's rushed will cup and twist, so we don't rush them.

Your table

You choose the slab. We can build the table, or it can go home to your own woodworker.
On the rack

The rack changes every week.

Tell us the species, length and width you have in mind and we'll send you what's on hand, or come by and go through the stack yourself. Fair warning: people tend to leave with a nicer slab than they came for.

Mantels

Mantels in about
any size.

Mantels come in nearly any size, from a 1.5" x 8" shelf to an 18" x 20" beam 10 to 20 feet long. We keep heavy square-edge stock, live edge pieces 4" to 10" thick and a good supply of 6x6s and 8x8s, many of which make excellent mantels.
