Hand-carved and painted JAMCo Woodworks sign
About us

I built my house out of this stuff.

I've worked in construction since I was a kid. In 2002 my family built a house in Gunnison County out of rough-sawn lumber.

After that I built a lot of houses there and in Hinsdale County, then Montrose County since around 2012. In 2015 I started my own construction company and called it JAMCo.

Then I bought a small sawmill and fell in love with making lumber.

In 2019 we did it again and built our own house out of local wood. That's what "logs to living" means. I'm not selling you anything I wouldn't live in.

It started in the backyard. After about a year and a half of sawdust in the yard, we moved it out to the highway in Olathe. In 2022 JAMCo became JAMCo Woodworks, and now it's a family deal.

Faith

Faith sits under all of it. I find God in the natural world, and I get to work in it every day.

Family

Family matters more than the business. Sara and I run this as equals, and her sister Victoria does the quoting. Call us and you're talking to family.

Adventure

I need to be outdoors. Fridays on the mountain aren't optional, which is why we close at noon. In the fall that usually means archery hunting with my kids.

Figure it out

I'd rather try it, see what sucks, fix that part and do it again than wait for perfect. That's pretty much how we built the sawmill.

Where the logo came from

Our sign was hand-carved by Denny, who used to work with us. He carved it, painted it, and it became the JAMCo logo.

Local logs, start to finish

Every log we mill is 100% locally sourced. Softwoods come off Western Slope forests and local National Forest lands. Our hardwoods come from trees that came down in Western Slope towns. We mill it, dry it and make sure it ends up somewhere it'll last.
