Surplus is the lumber that didn't make the cut for someone else's job. Think of it as #2 grade, with some checks, a little character and a price to match. It won't make a showpiece mantel, but it's plenty good when you simply need wood. Sizes run from 1x6s to 2x8s and 6x6 timbers, in all kinds of lengths.

Buying in bulk gets a discount, and the guys are always willing to make a deal. Cull bundles run from free, to $20 for a huge bundle, up to $200 depending on grade.
